BE PART OF WHAT’S NEXT
Your seat at the board.
Development news, testing opportunities and launch updates. Just the moves worth knowing about.
01 / A CLASSIC GAME. A DIFFERENT DIMENSION.
Less memorising. More understanding.
Pick up a piece. Explore an idea. See the board differently.
Chess Coach VR brings practice into a three-dimensional space. Work through a guided opening, spot a tactical opportunity, or settle into a game against Stockfish. Learn by making the moves yourself—with help when you need it and room to think when you don’t.

02 / FIND YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
One board. So many ways to grow.
From your very first pawn move to a deliberate opening repertoire. Choose the session that fits your day.
♞
AN OPPONENT THAT MEETS YOUR AMBITION
A worthy opponent. On your terms.
Set Stockfish’s strength, choose your side and make each game your own. Ask the AI to follow an opening so you can practise the positions you actually want to play.
Pause. Look again. Try another move. That’s not getting it wrong. That’s getting better.

04 / A SPACE THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Your board. Your room. Your way.
01
A workspace, not a fixed seat.
Place the board in mixed reality, move around freely and arrange floating controls to suit your space. Recover the workspace if anything gets out of reach.
02
The bigger picture. On a smaller board.
A live 2D planning tablet mirrors the position. Keep the full board in view, sketch ideas and bring it closer when you want a fresh perspective.
03
Make it feel like yours.
Choose board and piece colours, adjust UI scale and use left- or right-handed controls. Your colour preferences stay with you.
04
Pick up where you left off.
Save an AI game—including its position, turn, opening and clocks. Revisit lesson progress and remember the Elo and opening behind your AI wins.
♙→♕
SMALL SESSIONS. MEANINGFUL PROGRESS.
A little guidance. A lot to discover.
A robot companion, contextual lesson guidance, square highlights and on-demand hints help you stay with the idea. Made a wrong move? See what happened, try again and keep learning. Step back through a line or resume a lesson later—practice should invite you back.
Not yet. This is a preview of an application in development. Release date, pricing, final device support and store availability will be announced when confirmed. Join the mailing list to hear about testing and launch.
Which headset will I need?
Development targets Meta Quest virtual and mixed reality. Final headset requirements and standalone build support are still being validated. These development screenshots were captured in Unity on a PC; they are not a claim of final Quest performance.
Do I need to know how to play chess?
No. An optional, skippable introduction covers a little chess history, how each piece moves and hands-on examples. More experienced players can jump straight to the modes they want.
Can I practise a specific opening against the AI?
Yes. Choose a prescribed opening or a custom move sequence and practise as White or Black. The AI follows the selected line while play remains on that line, then continues normal play when you deviate.
How does online play work?
Lichess integration is in development. The implementation includes account authorization, supported matchmaking and direct challenges, synchronized moves and server clocks. Live account testing is pending; availability and supported time controls will be confirmed before launch. Chess Coach VR is independent and is not endorsed by Lichess.
Does practice need an online account?
The core AI, puzzle and lesson modes are designed for local play. Lichess requires its own account and internet connection. Progress and saved AI games are stored locally in the current build.
